Glutathione the goddess of antioxidants performs a vital role in defending the body from free radicals. She protects, prevents and limits the body from the harm of foreign enemies. By boosting antioxidants you boost your beauty and health.

Antioxidants are also known as free radical scavengers. They reduce the formation and the accumulation of enemies of the skin cells (free radicals) they do this by neutralizing them. The way antioxidants do this is by donating an electron to the free radical before it can oxidize. This stabilizes the free radical and prevents it from becoming toxic to other cells and causing its death.

Free radicals are created from the foods we eat and drink, medicines, pollution and toxins in our environment. Free radicals are molecules that become highly reactive because they contain unpaired electrons. Free radicals oxidize cells and cause damage to the DNA, proteins and cell membrane.

The oxidation damage in the skin cells means that it loses its ability to function normally. After a while, the accumulation of damage created by oxidation causes disease and cell death. Cells that are oxidized start to age, become dehydrated, wrinkle, lose collagen and skin elasticity. 

As we age glutathione levels in our body become depleted and the skin renewal process slows down. When skin cells are not renewed by the body quick enough, we see evidence of dull and lifeless skin.
